1) Manistee’s Ghost Ship (Manistee), Fridays & Saturdays in October, plus Halloween night at S.S. City of Milwaukee historic carferry (on US-31). 7:30-10:30pm (‘til 11pm on Friday, Oct. 31). 3) Historic Railroad Depot (Kaleva), Saturdays in October, 12-4pm. History comes alive with new displays and a M&NE engine that served Kaleva for many years.

4) Bottle House Museum (Kaleva), Saturdays in October, 12-4pm. Fall fishermen--come see the display about the Makinen Bait & Tackle Company. Plus, see a special dedication to the women of Kaleva. Come visit, and see if there are any ghosts in this unique museum and former residence.

5) Marilla Museum (Marilla), Sundays in October, 1-4pm at Marilla Museum & Pioneer Place (5 miles south of M-115, on Marilla Road, east of Copemish). 6) Scarecrow Harvest (Bear Lake), Oct. 1-31. Come visit Bear Lake and see a creative collection of scarecrows displayed throughout town!

8) October Home Decorating Contest (Manistee County). Oct. 1-31. Macabre Manistee County and Cool 101 are awarding prizes for the best decorated homes! Enter to win prizes by Oct. 24. Winners to be announced on Cool 101 on Friday, Oct. 31. Pick up entry forms at Ace Hardware!

9) Fall Fun Fest (Brethren), Sat. Oct. 4, 4-7pm, Brethren Museum, (corner of Cart & Amick Rds). Music, pumpkin carving and painting, corn husk doll-making, horseshoes, bobbing for apples, with a special appearance by Paul Bunyan. Hunter’s Stew with all the fixin’s at 4pm. Donations accepted.
